Guitar Setup Classes

Please bring in two guitars with easy truss rod access, and preferably individual saddle adjustment (not like a Les Paul), and preferably a rosewood or ebony fingerboard (no Floyd Rose tremolos for the setup classes). Someone’s extra guitar will be used as the classroom demo.

We ask that you show up 15-20 minutes prior to the class start time. We sometimes need to build up low nut slots and recut before the class begins.

Class tuition includes over $100 worth of take-home tools, a 24 page booklet, a bottle of water, and a free set of strings by either D’addario, GHS, or Ernie Ball (coated and bass strings are extra).

I took the Electric Guitar Setup class offered at Straight Frets, and it was a phenomenal value. Danny and Mason provided in-depth, hands-on instruction throughout the entire setup process. I have a tendency to ask a LOT of questions, and both instructors provided thoughtful, thorough answers to all of them. On top of all that, they provided several highly useful setup tools and a booklet outlining the setup process (with even more detail) to take home. I highly recommend taking this class to anyone who finds themselves tinkering with their instrument to get it to play as well as possible.

I took the setup class and it was great! They helped me overcome my fear of working on my own guitar and showed me actual methods that were developed through real experience. The people at straight frets are the 'whisperer' types. You get a sense that they've done this for so long and seen so many things: they have a keen and connected understanding of how the mechanics of instruments work, but also—how to make them work for your specific needs. I highly recommend taking the setup class, and I highly recommend using their services for repairs and setups as well
